Shivani Wells

As a yoga therapist, Shivani's goal is to help individuals live more meaningful, authentic, consciously embodied, and empowered lives. She has been in private practice since 2008 and specializes in trauma recovery, resilience building, stress and anxiety management, and self-discovery. Her approach is based in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, a holistic modality that combines gentle posture work, embodied mindfulness, client-centred dialogue, and humanistic and somatic psychology. To this foundation, Shivani also supports her clients with self-regulation skills, breath work, various trauma-informed approaches, and her passion for neuroscience.

Shivani is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT), and has completed over 1000 hours of yoga therapy training. She holds a BA in Psychology from UBC, and is conducting research with the UBC Psychiatry department on the effects of yoga on post-concussive syndrome. For this study she developed the Mindful Brain Yoga intervention, an 8-week yoga and meditation program for people with brain injury. Shivani is committed to continuing education in trauma recovery, and is pursuing graduate studies in Counselling Psychology.

Shivani is on faculty as a Course Director with the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy school, and is on guest faculty with the Vancouver School of Yoga and YYoga teacher training programs. In addition to her private practice, Shivani teaches public yoga classes and is committed to offering meditation classes that are accessible, effective, and dogma-free.
